Welcome to The Wikipedia Adventure!

Hi SoyokoAnis! We're so happy you wanted to play to learn, as a friendly and fun way to get into our community and mission. I think these links might be helpful to you as you get started.

Welcome to Wikipedia! I see that you have created Prodigy (online game). Many thanks for your contributions. There is an issue with the article, though. Are there any reliable sources that cover Prodigy? I see that you have referenced mostly to another Wiki. Since these can be edited by anyone, they are not reliable sources to use. Please read WP:RS and replace them with appropriate sources. Please let me know if I can help. Spiderone 22:05, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, okay! I would appreciate some help because I can't seem to find other sources that show what the references need. Could you help me? SoyokoAnis User Page 22:06, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. I'm struggling to find sources, actually. The best ones after a quick search are [1] [2] [3] [4]. Some of them look like blogs but at least they are independent. Planescape: Torment and Hyborian War are really good examples of articles on a similar topic. If resources exist in books or newspapers, then they would be ideal. Spiderone 22:25, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'll try and add all of them! Thank you so much for the help! SoyokoAnis User Page 00:39, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Achieve3000 moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Achieve3000, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. GRINCHIDICAE🎄 03:55, 13 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This topic appears to be notable. Please make sure you use the best sources that you can online before hitting the 'submit the draft' button to give this the best chance of passing first time! Spiderone 09:59, 13 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Strimm (television company), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Information icon Hello, I'm SK2242. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Discord (software), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. SK2242 (talk) 15:54, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

[edit]

Howdy hello. I see you have nominated Nascarfan for adminship. I cannot stress how ill-advised that is. Nominators should already be admins with a good tenure and a long track record. They should also be intimately familiar with the candidate, be willing to write up a few paragraphs about them, and be very familiar with the process of running. I do not mean to disparage your experience, but you are clearly quite new on Wikipedia, so I imagine you just don't know how adminship works. To become an admin is very hard, and usually requires a very well planned out campaign. For a personal example, I am an admin. I got two nominators, not just one, and both were admins with long experience, and one was a sitting member of the arbitration committee. You can see my attempt at Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/CaptainEek, you'll note even with having two great noms, a featured article to my name, and years of experience, I still only just barely got elected. I suggest you focus on writing some content yourself before giving other users false hope about their chances at election. If you would like some advice/help on editing, let me know. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 20:02, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, CaptainEek. This has happened so many times. I appreciate you trying to help me but no thanks. I dislike the fact that editors with higher experience think editors with lower experience don't know anything. I have read almost all policies, I understand how to edit, how AFD, RFA, Teahouse, sock-puppetry, and etc work. While I don't have five hundred or one thousand edits or have been on Wikipedia for at least a year or even thirteen years doesn't mean I don't know how Wikipedia works. I would appreciate it if editors stopped telling me how I don't understand anything. I don't think it's very kind to tell someone that they're giving someone false hope. I apologize if I came off as rude or disrespectful, I just wanted to put that out there. SoyokoAnis 21:48, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Soyoko Anis, I take on good faith that you've read Wikipedia's policies, and I share your view that Wikipedia is sometimes too hierarchical and dismissive of newcomers. The de facto situation is that—rightly or wrongly—most !voters at RfA do look for nominators to be experienced administrators that know the candidate well. Ignoring that reality doesn't help Wikipedia become less hierarchical, and it can hurt people if they get firmly rejected (as happened here). If you'd like to work in areas that help make Wikipedia less hierarchical, I'd suggest volunteering in newcomer-focused spaces such as the Teahouse might be one good way to do that. Skdb, this is a way more kinder way to tell me what I can do to help Wikipedia. I apologize CaptainEek for being disrespectful and hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. Thank you both for helping me. SoyokoAnis 23:49, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
